The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Water Resources is seeking to fill a Staff 1, Associate Engineer located in Carson City. Under direction of the State Engineer and Deputy Administrator, the Planning Section Manager assists the Division of Water Resources in performing duties described under NRS Chapter 540. The overall planning efforts of the Division of Water Resources involve water resource planning, conservation, protection, and management for the State of Nevada. This position will act as the MetersDatabase Administrator and will provide support to users, provide quality assurance and quality control of the data, and will identify any issues and/or future needs of the application. This position will also aid the Section Chief and Staff 2, Associate Engineer, in reviewing water use inventories, making water use estimates and assist in the creation of a statewide water use database. This position may also assist the Section Chief and Staff 2, Associate Engineer, in the development of a state-wide water and drought resiliency plan. A Driver's License verification through the Nevada DMV will be required of the incumbent. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
